Rural City License Testing

The State of Colorado has approved Affordable Driving School to do the DMV Driver's License Skills Test in the following Rural areas:

  • PLEASE CALL TO CONFIRM AVAILABILITY BEFORE MAKING PAYMENT AS PAYMENTS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE, to ensure we can accommodate your availability. 
  • You must hold a Colorado Instructional Permit to make an appointment.
  • Payment is required to be paid in full to secure an exam time slot. All payments are non-refundable.
  • License tests are done with your vehicle. Please see "Vehicle Inspection Checklist" 

WHAT TO BRING TO YOUR DRIVE TEST

Without these items, we will have to cancel the driving test and charge a $50 rescheduling fee.

  • Your Permit (for Teens, permit must be held for a FULL 12 MONTHS)
  • Phones must be TURNED OFF during examination 
  • You must wear closed-toed shoes and keep them on during the driving test.
  • Valid insurance and registration for vehicle being driven

If you have a license restriction, such as glasses or interlock, you must bring your interlock vehicle or wear glasses for the test or we will not be able to perform the test.

Rural License Testing

  • 60-minute Driver License Test - It is very important to be on time for your appointment, if you are 5 or more minutes late it will be considered a late cancellation and there will be a $40 fee assessed. 

  • Applicants must wear closed-toed shoes. 

  • Must hold a valid permit

  • Applicant must provide proof of valid insurance and current registration for vehicle

  • There will be a vehicle safety inspection performed prior to the test. Please view "Vehicle Inspection Checklist" prior to registration, located on this page and under Frequently Asked Questions. 

Payment in full is required to secure your appointment for Rural testing. 

Please note: ALL PAYMENTS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE AND NON-TRANSFERABLE. Since the certified testers are traveling a far distance, we will be strictly enforcing a 48 hour notice for cancellations to avoid a $40 rescheduling fee. For no shows and missed appointments, there will be a $40 fee assessed and paid before you are able to reschedule your appointment.

Vehicle Inspection Checklist:

All tests will be done out of applicants vehicles. Please use this checklist to make sure your ready for your license test!

The following items will be checked prior to testing any applicant. All 11 of these areas will be checked, if your vehicle is unable to meet these requirements we will not be able to test out of that vehicle.

1. Mirrors - All mirrors must be intact inside and outside of vehicle.

2. Windshield - No shattered windshields allowed. If any cracks are present they must not obstruct applicants or testers view.

3. Windows - Both the front driver and passenger windows must be fully operational from the inside to allow for egress in case of an emergency. All other windows must be clean and provide adequate vision for the driver and examiner.

4. Doors - Both the driver and passenger doors must open from the inside to allow egress from the vehicle in case of an emergency.

5. Brake Lights - Both driver and passenger side brake lights must be operable.

6. Turn Signals - Driver side and passenger side turn signals on the front and rear of the vehicle should be operable and visible.

7. Heater/Defroster - Depending upon weather conditions the heater and defroster must be operable to keep the windshield clear.

8. Tires - Must have adequate tread for the conditions, no damage to the tread or sidewalls that would be unsafe for use on public drives.

9. License Plates - Colorado law requires that both front and rear plates (or one temporary permit in the rear plate) be securely fastened to the vehicle. Out of state vehicles/plates are in accordance with those states' regulations.

10. Speedometer - Must work properly.

11. Operable 12V plug-in - Examiner will be using this to plug in a dash camera to record tests. This is for the safety of the applicants and examiners.
